Mammys Steamed Sausages

If you are looking for a quick and easy meal thats just thrown in a pot yet has enough flavour to lavish the taste buds then this is the recipes for you. Cheap as chips to make, can feed a crowd of hungry folks and is certified as a holygrail of fast go-to homely meals for my family as its been in our family over 100 years haha.

Another great dish from my mother, An inspirational woman who loves cooking so much yet likes to stick to what she knows. Most of my mums recipes differ from the normal dishes other mums have made me. Her recipes all came from my Grandmother who had 12 kids, mum being the youngest so thrift played a big part in most meals to make them stretch. Anyways anyone who has ever tried them has loved them so I wouldnt dare change them for the world!!!

(Serves 3 with 3 links each)

500g Good Quality Link Sausages (Lorne Square Sausage if you prefer)

1 Large White Onion, chopped

1Pt  Boiling Water

2 Oxo Beef Stock Cubes

3 Tbsp Beef Bisto Gravy

Salt and Pepper

  1. In a sauce pan, brown the sausages on all sides and set aside.
  2. In the same pan sweat the onions with a pinch of salt until transluscent then add the sausages.
  3. Dissolve the stock cubes and gravy granules in the hot water and add to the pan.
  4. Cover and simmer for at least 30 minutes.

Serve with mashed potato and lots of lovely buttery cabbage on the side. Trust me you WILL love it haha. well I am bias!!

Note: If you are not from the UK you may not have Bisto and Oxo. Instead any replacement beef stock cubes or stock could be used as a substitute to the oxo and any gravy thickener, beef gravy granules or cornflour/starch may be used although flavour may be compromised.
